ATTRACTIONS
Australia has many different attractions to appeal to everyone. One major attraction is the Sydney Opera House. The mastermind behind the opera house is Denmark’s Jørn Utzon who died November 2008 at the age of 90. The Sydney Opera House was opened by Queen Elizabeth in 1973. Another big attraction for Australia is the Great Barrier Reef. The Great Barrier Reef stretches over 1,800 miles. The reef includes more than 400 different kinds of coral, coral sponges, mollusks, rays, dolphins, over 1500 species of tropical fish, more than 200 types of birds, around 20 types of reptiles including sea turtles and giant clams over 120 years old. Australia also has the Australia Zoo which is home of the the crocodile hunter Steve Irwin who passed away in 2006. The Australia Zoo was established in 1970 and was first called Beerwah Reptile and Fauna Park firts owned by Steve Irwin's parents.
